Now in paperback — the biography of Canadian legend Stompin’ Tom Connors with a new afterword

An insightful and moving biography about the man who celebrated Canada through his songs. Stompin’ Tom Connors is a Canadian legend — the foot-stompin’ patriot in the cowboy hat who sang about the country he loved. But there is much more to Tom Connors than “Bud the Spud” and “The Hockey Song.” This biography profiles an intelligent, stubborn, creative, cantankerous and thoughtful man who created a character that would be embraced by Canadians from coast to coast. This is the story of the man behind the “Stompin’ Tom” persona. This paperback edition includes an afterword with new details about Tom’s complex family life.

CHARLIE RHINDRESS is the author of I’m Not What I Seem, the best-selling biography of Rita MacNeil, which was shortlisted for Best First Book at the Atlantic Book Awards. He has also written fifteen plays, which have been produced across the country. He is a proud father of four, as well as an actor, writer, director and producer who has worked on more than 100 theatre productions and appeared in more than a dozen films and TV shows. In 2020, he created a six-part video series, Stompin’ Tom Remembered, featuring interviews with people close to Stompin’ Tom (including Tom’s friends and former bandmates, Duncan Fremlin and Dave Gunning), available now on YouTube. Charlie lives in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
